Indiana dunes - Beach Watercolors

During these crazy pandemic times, I have found that working small brings me great joy. I have also been inspired by getting outdoors and hiking in my local area of the Indiana Dunes and Lake Michigan. The light at this time of year (fall and early winter) illuminates the water and dunes with a certain crispness. Watercolors are the best way to capture this crispness. The attached works were completed on Strathmore Post Card, 140 lb. paper.

Your reflections on the Indiana Dunes are beautifully calming—there’s something magical about capturing nature’s crispness in watercolor. As someone who enjoys aquatics, I recently explored a new hobby and came across some stunning Cardinal Fish for sale—their vivid colors remind me of your art’s vibrant tones. Nature truly inspires in so many unexpected ways.

Your watercolor work sounds beautiful—I can imagine how the Indiana Dunes inspire such creativity! Nature has a special way of bringing peace, especially during uncertain times. As someone who enjoys a clean, calming environment to work on creative projects, I’ve found that reliable commercial cleaning services help keep my studio space fresh and distraction-free.

Your watercolor work sounds incredibly peaceful and inspiring—there’s something special about capturing nature’s light in a simple, quiet way. I’ve started bringing a sketchpad with me when I wait at the clean laundromat near me—it’s actually a great time to reflect and create. Thanks for sharing your process and connection to the Indiana Dunes!
